1st VC Pepin Report:

         Wreaths Across America –

                  Advised that Donald O’Brien (County Councilman) and various reps. from Edward

Jones have donated a total of $525 in sponsorship of the Post 115 WAA Espanola

Cemetery Event 19 DEC 2020 1200hrs – Espanola Cemetery, Bunnell

White Table ceremony update

         “Virtual” Ceremony has begun today through this Friday.

         The White Table Ceremony honors those MIA and KIA and is presented by the

         Embry Riddle University ROTC unit. Visit this service at the Palm Coast Branch 

of the Flagler County Library system – NW corner of Palm Coast Pkwy N & 

Belle Terre.

         Post 115 Christmas Tree update

                  12 NOV 2020 Post 115 will place our entry for the 2020 Ceremony of the Trees

                  @ the Palm Coast Branch of the Flagler County Library system. Set-up help is

                  needed.

         Beachfront Grille A1A S Flagler Beach – honored vets with free food Sat 7 NOV.

                  Owner Jamie is a veteran himself and supports our efforts.

         Boys State:

                  Selection Committee has been formed. Awaiting materials from Dept. of FL

in order to contact schools

Will fund four (4) delegates with an addition one (1) depending on funding and 

need. 

         Programs:

                  Chair Position is OPEN for Children & Youth

         Fundraising:

                  PUBLIX is still on hold – have not researched other venues due returns being

                  Lower than PUBLIX locations.

                  Fundraising Committee again formed and meeting –

                           Instead of “raffle” we will offer “Opportunity” tickets

                           Thinking of Harley Davidson drawing, Golf Tournament, various restaurant

                           offerings – Such as Tuesday Night’s TEXAS Roadhouse event. And??

         Updated Finance Report - report offered in absence by Adj. Owens

                  1100 – 1300hrs+ VSO ONE Blood drive – Palm Coast Towne Center

         EMORY BENNETT NURSING HOME update

                  We delivered steaks for a Veterans Day Lunch this past Saturday 7 NOV.

                  Due to COVID – VA did not allow us to attend this year so we just

                  supplied the beef and rec’d many thanks! (Last year we BBQ’d them as well! 

And were able to mingle while the vets enjoyed their meals.)

Service Officer Beier Report:

         Has completed Dept. of FL Post Service Officer Training as well as training for

         Project:VetRelief

         Appeared on Veterans on Point aired on WNZF for a welcome interview.

         Has helped with one local veteran in getting care he needed.

Sgt. At Arms Beier Report:             

         Recognized and thanked member Ken Wall who is retiring from the Color Guard for

his long time of service to the unit.

Post 115 Color Guard will be in attendance at the WAA Espanola Cemetery Event.

Color Guard and ALR Chap. 115 participated in a funeral service for member 

Donald Hoskins 6 Nov 2020. Remains were escorted by our ALR and the FSCO COPS to the church and internment site along A1A. Family monetary donation made to Post 115 in Don’s remembrance.

 Post 115 Color Guard has received a request to Present The Colors for the Daytona 500.

         More to come regarding funding, transport, etc.

Post 115 is forming a Rifle Squad in an effort to support current and future needs for

         Rifle squad services. We have rec’d many requests with no resources but now

         are ready.

Judge Advocate Smith Report:

         Extends a thank you to Ophelia Beier for stepping up and becoming the 

Post Service Officer!

         J.A. Smith reminds members that the American Legion is apolitical. If you are

                  wearing the uniform (i.e. Legion Cap) or display Legion logo or uniform photo

-       Do NOT express politics, please.

As an individual – out of “uniform” – you are free to express via 1st Amendment.

Please – In Uniform you are neutral

Historian Boyd Report:

         Really appreciated the funeral service for Donald Hoskins and the Post’s performance.

         Now an AL Riders member and have been along for rides – thanks Riders.

ALR Director Dean Repot:

         Traveling trophy was displayed during tonight’s meeting. Trophy spent many years

                  @ Post 267 and we decided to grab it which was accomplished!

         ALR will work towards winning the Round Robin for this coming year

                  Registration process is underway and Post 115 help may be needed –

                  More to come.

         Chapter 115 just celebrated our 1-year anniversary!

                  Now currently @ 20 members

Working now on Chapter 115 registration for MIAP Escorts (Missing In America Project)

Next meeting Sat. 14 Nov. 2020 1000hrs @ VFW

         Still no VA access

Member @ Large Whitaker Report:

         WAA update – With tonight’s donations the goal for Post 115 Espanola Event

         Has been met and surpassed. Committee will propose to hold overage for the 2021 event.

         A question arose from the members in adding an additional cemetery – Tanya can 

         research as we need approval from cemetery board or owner(s) in order to sponsor a site.
